A Random Parade

Passing through Nativitas, on the return from Cacaxtla, our bus was delayed by a town parade.  It’s not that they closed off the street, but more than we just pulled over to let the costumed riders, bands, floats, and random assortment of other celebrants pass us.  

and many children (some happier than others).

Many children were in the parade (some were happier than others).

The reason for the parade was given as Carnaval, a festivity held in many towns just before Ash Wednesday.  Though this day happened to be the Spring equinox and the strange attire of some of the celebrants made me wonder….
